Best Edmonton Brunches: Arbour

Arbour is serving up their delicious Edmonton brunch menu between 10am and 2pm, Saturday and Sunday. A departure from their family-style dinner, the brunch was served up in portions that are really generous for a brunch under twenty bucks an entree. Parking was a breeze, on a slow Sunday morning on Whyte Ave, and if you saved room, you could visit Made by Marcus across the street to grab a cone, or a pint for later.

What we ate: avocado toast, chilaquiles and french toast

Let’s start with the french toast. First, it’s cooked perfectly. It’s unlike any flavour of French toast that we’ve experienced in Edmonton. Mango compote, candied walnuts, fresh and toasted coconut and pandan whipped cream are magic in your mouth, as they all meld together in a creamy, flavourful bite - and it’s under twenty bucks!

Next up? Chilaquiles - if you’re going to order this one (we’re a big YES), add the ancho chicken to it for an incredible smoky flavour. Like the French toast, it’s a dish that is familiar, but reimagined in a way that it’s fresh, new and CRAVEABLE.

Finally, we’ve got to talk about the potatoes. We smashed those za’atar fried potatoes so fast and agreed that they made it to the top of our list of the best potatoes in the city. The brunch entree dishes are generous in portions - you don’t need an extra side, but if you do add on a side, make it to the za’atar fried potatoes.

If you love these, we’re willing to bet you’ll enjoy the avocado toast, topped with salsa macha.

What we drank: gnista sour, no-biscus sour

We find ourselves in a lot of meetings that revolve around night-time hotspots or lunch favourites - and that means we’re around a lot of cocktails. For brunch, we’re trying to embrace more alcohol-free cocktails. Arbour was a great place to do just that. Both cocktails, though alcohol free, left us feeling like we were missing nothing, down to the gorgeous egg-white foam atop the bold and bright flavoured alcohol-free cocktails. Both were easily crushable, but the no-biscus sour was just slightly ahead in the flavour for us. That being said, we would order both again.
